The study of global affairs involves the complex interplay of countries, organizations, and individuals on a world-wide scale. This includes a wide range of issues, such as international relations, economics, environmental and energy policy, governance, human rights, peace-building, and regional studies. The NYU SPS Master of Science in Global Affairs teaches you to analyze these issues from the perspective of multiple disciplines to prepare for an impactful career across public, private, and non-profit global sectors.
A new age of geopolitics has emerged. It will test the limits of American power and the capacity of America to promote a global order based on democracy, human rights, and free enterprise. The indisputable first objective must remain safeguarding and enhancing liberty, security, and prosperity at home. Achieving that goal will require integrating the world’s have-nots into the globalized West. Pursuing that goal is not charity; it is profoundly in America’s self-interest.
Global affairs scholars have a wide range of interests, from environmental policy to corporate social responsibility, the development and management of the Internet, and the spread of global ideas and culture. Their research and teaching address the central challenges facing our world in an era of globalization.
Students majoring in global affairs are encouraged to complete a summer or term-time study abroad program. Up to two courses studied abroad may count toward the major with DUS approval, after a student has finished a full year at Yale and has received official transcripts from the overseas institution.
